Whenever the summer approaches, Sonia Rykiel gives us merry colors, stripes and a lot of lighweight knitwear. All those elements are the French designer’s trademark since many seasons. She stays away from boredom and monotony, though, and the proof of that may be her spring-summer 2011 collection.
The looks were dominated by warm, yellow and red combinations, put together with coral, cinnamon, white, beige and brown. Oversized, soft and loosely fitting forms could remind you th ethnic clothes of the Indigenous tirbes of the Andes, while the hats were with no doubt inspired by the Asian caps. The whole collection combines different retro trends, which you can see especially in the accessories.
Perhaps fashion a’la Sonia Rykiel’s doesn’t bring any revolutional changes, isn’t shocking nor does it breake any boundaries. Still, year after year the brand guarantees good fun, which is generally one of the principles in fashion.
