Many may say, that Thom Browne doesn’t need fashion journalists, but drama critics. The fashion show of this season’s collection took place on a velodrome, the models rided bikes, and among the songs palyed as soundtrack, you could hear one of Queen’s most popular pieces, The Bicycle Race.
In the spring-summer season the Moncler‘s designer Thom Browne was inspired by one of the most important summer sport events – Tour de France and Giro d’Italia. The clothes were directly refered to the cycle outfits from the beginning of the 20th century. We could find the famous caps with little peaks, leather gloves, rubber welts weared on sleeves and trouser-legs, double-breasted coats and jackets, shorts and the motive of the French three colored flag as well as prints, showing, of course, bicycles.
The atmosphere, took directly out of the swinging twenties and a retrun to the fashion of that time perhpas won’t cause a revolution in the world’s menswear. Nevertheless, it certainly will encourage many men to inspire themselves by their fashion history, as well as women do it, since several seasons already. Thom Browne showed us, the vintage may also be a man.
