Wild creepers and crop straws, meadows of white flowers and swarms of colourful butterflies, the multitude of flora and fowl. Mother Earth has completely overpowered the Alexander McQueen’s spring/summer collection.
Everyone was waiting for Sarah Burton’s first creation underneath her maestro’s name. Surely, no one was disappointed. The designer showed her loyalty towards “Lee’s” artistic heritage while bringing her own ideas to the light. The statement shoulders jackets and frock-coat-like trains, characteristic for the previous collection, are definitely back.
Brand’s current creative director undoubtedly keeps pace with the artistic imagination of her predecessor. As each of the previous runway shows was telling a different story, this time as well – the public experienced a thrilling performance. The collection moves us to the wonderland of elves, to a natural but at once a magical world. Monochromatic whiteness, repeated on numerous outfits, has created the impression of purity whereas straw and butterfly dresses as well as decorated, “growing” on models fabrics resembled their second skin.
With this collection, with no doubt, Sarah Burton brought Alexander McQueen back to life.
