Since 2010, Nicolas Kirkwood has been the creative director of Italy-based Pollini. At the beginning of March we were able to admire his first projects from brand’s spring/summer 2011 collection. This famous German but living in London shoe designer is known for his passion for architectural construction. In Pollini he brings together his own taste with Italian classics. Apart from being extremely creative under his own name, he easily takes up the gauntlet within the external projects. Now, as Pollini’s main designer, he decided to create “a fashion confusion” and design footwear for five different brands: Preen, Manish Arora, Meadham Kirchhoff, Louise Gray and Michael Van Der Ham. First effects of his work for Manish Arora we can already find in Pollini’s boutiques all over the world.
Manish Arora is an Indian fashion designer, known for combining contrasting colours and intriguing shapes, both inspired by Bollywood gleam and Hollywood glamour. Besides, he derives his ideas from pop culture and general joy of everyday life. His talent has been already appreciated by such celebrities as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Rihanna. As everyone else aims at simple form and total minimalism, Arora chooses a completely different artistic path – his collections are psychedelic, kitsch, full of decorations, trinkets and colourful motifs. That’s how he demonstrates that fashion might be also fun!
The new mini collection of shoes Pollini for Manish Arora is showed in our gallery. We’re curious what do You think about it.
