The menswear Salvatore Ferragamo collection is obviuosly pointing out it’s source of inspiration and the idea that lies behind this season concept of the line. It’s all about a man, travelling along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, a man, who has something of an Italian, something of a French and a Spanish trouble-maker sailor. This elegant nonchalance is constantly present in men’s fashion, as a proof to the rule, that what is chic is never perfectly buttoned-up.
The spring-summer 2011 line was dominated by a clear palette of colors, especially white, light grey and sand beige, in contrast with navy blue, brown and yellow accents. The designer of this Italian brand, Massimiliano Giornetti, decided also to introduce the stripes – horizontal, as well as the vertical ones – a leitmotiv of prints in this season’s menswear.
The silhouette is also worth our attention. Wide formal trousers this season became a pattern, inspired directly by the menswear back in the 1940s. Single and double-breasted, perfectly tailored jackets make the silhouette look light and tall. The entire line is like a remembrance of the old-fashioned elegance, it’s nostalgy, but also great fun – mixing the style of nowadays and of the pas as well.
