Burberry celebrated fashion, Britishness and music during the exclusive event which took place at the iconic landmark Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. The celebration marks the Burberry new flagship store launch in Rodeo Drive opened in November as well as the first time the brand has used the location to celebrate LA and its community.
Hosted by Christopher Bailey, the brand’s Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer, the event was attended by the multitude of guests, including Anna Wintour, Mario Testino, the Beckham Family, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Cara Delevigne, Suki Waterhouse, Mila Kunis, Elton John, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, January Jones, Rose Byrne, Kate Beckinsale, to name a few. The event started with the guests entering a specially created English garden inspired with the Royal Parks of London. Having taken their seats in the custom-built show space, the guests enjoyed the Burberry AW15 womens and mens collection show featuring the brand’s family of models, e.g. Naomi Campbell, Jourdan Dunn, Sam Rollinson and Amber Andreson. The show comprised of exclusive eveningwear such as an elegant floor-length dress with cut-out waistcoast and silk thread embroidery as well as slim-fit velvet tuxedos for men. A great surprise was the British film and TV star James Corden runway appearance at the very end of the show.
When the show came to an end the First Battalion Grenadier Guards entered the show space which opened up to reveal the Griffin Observatory at the end of the runway. The guests as well as the models were led outside to the extended runway, where the performance continued: the giant digital projections of the guards and the British and American flags illuminated the Griffin Observatory’ facade.
Additionally, the Burberry shared its journey from London to LA on the brand’s recently launched Snapchat account. Featuring the Burberry’s family models surprise visits, the platform also revealed some of the real time content of the event, such as the red carpet show-ups and the front row reactions.
